-Windows – Settings/Preferences – Plugin Manger : Scroll down to Mayatomr.mll and make sure both boxes are ticked. (autoload will make sure MR is loaded next time you run Maya)

Thanks for the uninstall first info since the readme doesn't say nothing. Only thing i got is that maya is already installed when trying it lol.

Hi, sorry for the post in your hotfix topic (i havent installed it yet), but wasnt sure how to, or who to etc... Have tried the area and creative crash and people are helpful, but no definite answers. I'm no tech guy, more front end (I can drive it, but wouldnt know how to change the camshaft - if you get my drift).
Have disabled network rendering and get the same error. I dont get any issues when I render a single frame.
Also if I pull the network cable out it batch renders using mental ray no probs.
I also left my previous version of maya (2009) on my machine when I installed 2011 (I'm using a mac), maybe that had something to do with it, but did read the install docs and it didn't say to uninstall previous version prior to installing.
Below is a simple scene from maya 2011 booting to a batch render. Any help is appreciated and apologise again for posting in the wrong place

Stephen,
Are you telling us this is a problem with the Hotfix?
With the renderer set to mental ray, check your Batch Render options and disable Render on Network Machines. Try rendering now.
And from this option box you can set the Verbosity Level to Progress Messages, this will give you a more descriptive error message(s).
Do you get any error messages at all when you try a single frame render ?

an update, I pulled out my network cable and that seems to have sorted it, brilliant, but not very workable
