Several people have confirmed an issue with HotFix3 on linux.
The hotbox is just a big black box. Looks to be an overlay issue of some sort.

Just tried this, ( as suggested from a friend ) and it seems to work.
set the env variable "MAYA_HOTBOX_USE_SOFTWARE" to 1
so far, it works.

Looks like there is something new in the works...
Found this new in the "initAddAttr" script:
"ICEFlow plugin" - Maybe some better connectivity with XSI?

I installed Maya 2011 hotfix 3 on Ubuntu Lucid 10.04
Everything is working fine but when I try to assign any mentalray shader it crashes wihtout any warning.
Ater some trial and errors I found that mental ray shaders are not loading as I see in Script editor output window. It's looking for mental ray libraries with extentesion of *.mi.so instead of *.so. wieard?
so I tried to rename the libraries in /usr/autodesk/maya2011-64x/mentalray/lib from for example base.so to base.mi.so and so on.
I renamed every library then I started maya and assinged mental ray shader to any objects it didn't crash but when I render it renders Black.
so where is the problem?
help......

Just installed maya 2011 hotfix3 because, all of the sudden I cannot open my render settings. Nor can I open the Outliner.. Hypershade I have to open in a 4panel display, by changing one window panel to hypershade..
Hotfix3 did not fix anything..
=(
HEEEELLLPPPP!!!!
=)
Can I open the render settings dialog box any other way?

I uninstalled Maya 2011, but in trying to reinstall, the installer grays out Maya 2011 x64 when I run either the hotfix3 file or sp1 (by the way, which one is more current, hotfix3 or sp1?).
How do I get Maya 2011 sp1 to install?

Hi,
SP1 was released after Hotfix 3. Please consider posting your installation question directly on the Autodesk Installation and Licensing discussion forum:
