I have installed hotfix 2 (running OS X 6.4) and I am still having a lot of issues with floating windows overriding each other in Maya as well as all other windows open (Attribute Editor in particular). using space bar to switch viewport views doesn't work as well (lags, opens the hot key editor insead-very inconsistent), opening the color chooser on shaders it is difficult to double click and actually get the full window and entering data into the window that opens on mouse over is extremely difficult. I don't know if these issues have anything to do with OS X compatibility and I don't know if this is the place to register these notes but I wanted to let you guys know. 2011 is feeling really buggy on OS X and after struggling with it for the past two days I am going back to 2010 until you can tighten it up.

by the way I am running Maya on a Mac Pro Xeon 8 core machine.

It's interesting, is there a reason why the hotfix is not available under Subscription centre but instead on a public download location?

Im having major issues with Maya 2011 also on OS X. Running IPR while deleting lights, changing lights, or moving lights guarantees an instant crash for me. Maya crashes when opening light linking editor while running IPR also. Haven't installed hotfix yet but I am not really looking forward to it either.

This is truly a Revolting Development as William Bendix use to say on TV in a different generation or two ago. Maybe three. I'm thinking seriously now about Mac and also about selling my stock.

do you need to be on support to use the hot fix? best, j
