In some situation you want to extract the Z-depth information that is embedded in the IFF file
You can do the following
Open the iff file in Fcheck , hit the Z button to display the Z-depth info
File save as > save with a new file name
Tip: the same apply for a sequence, just make sure when loading the image sequence in F-check to hit “Z Buffer”

Hello!
I've been wondering if there is a way to do it via batch ? I've had no luck batch-saving with cmdline fcheck and image magick does not support iff (or at least iff with a zdepth)

fcheck from maya 2010 not working like that . I can load one image with z depth but not the entire sequence with z depth .

You have to use "-Z" to force Z-Loading in animation mode, for example:
fcheck -Z -n 1 24 1 animation.@@@.iff
